How our research is written, sourced, reviewed, and corrected.
Who Writes Our Content
All research and guides published on Verd are written by the Verd team — the two founders, both health policy professionals with more than a decade of experience in health coverage and federal benefits programs. Articles are attributed to the team as house style, and the team is collectively responsible for the accuracy of everything published here.
Sourcing Standards
We work from primary government sources and established research organizations. Figures, program rules, and deadlines in our research come from sources such as:
- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
- The Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
- The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
- The Social Security Administration (SSA)
- KFF (Kaiser Family Foundation) health policy research
We do not rely on marketing materials from insurers or unverified aggregator content. When a number depends on the plan year, we say which year it applies to.
Review Cadence
Health insurance rules change every year. When CMS and the IRS publish new plan-year figures — contribution limits, out-of-pocket maximums, subsidy thresholds, enrollment dates — we review the articles that use them. Each article carries a review notice. If an article has not yet been updated for the current plan year, treat its year-specific figures as provisional.
Corrections
If you spot an error — a stale figure, a misstated rule, a broken example — please report it through our contact page. We investigate every report and correct confirmed errors promptly. Material corrections are noted in the article itself.
Independence
Verd does not accept commissions from insurance carriers, and we do not publish sponsored content. Verd's plan rankings come from our cost model and the information you give us, not from who pays us — no insurer can pay to be ranked higher or reviewed favorably. Advertising, if any appears on the site, never influences our guidance or our research.
AI Disclosure
Our research library is drafted and fact-checked by the Verd team. We use software tools in the editorial process, but every published claim is checked by a person against the sources listed above. The AI assistant inside the Verd product is a separate feature: it helps users navigate their own plan data and is not used to generate the research articles on this site.
