How our research is written, sourced, reviewed, and corrected.
All research and guides published on Verd are written by the Verd Policy Team — healthcare policy professionals with Capitol Hill experience in health legislation, insurance regulation, and federal benefits programs. Individual author names are withheld under federal ethics rules that apply to some members of the team. Every article is attributed to the team as a whole, and the team is collectively accountable for its accuracy.
We work from primary sources only. Figures, program rules, and deadlines cited in our research come directly from official government and established research sources, including:
We do not cite secondhand summaries, marketing materials from insurers, or unverified aggregator content. When a number depends on the plan year, we say which year it applies to.
Health insurance rules change every year. Every figure in our library — contribution limits, out-of-pocket maximums, subsidy thresholds, enrollment dates — is re-verified annually when new plan-year data lands from CMS and the IRS. Each article carries a dated review notice so you can see when its contents were last checked. If an article has not yet been re-verified for the current plan year, treat year-specific figures as provisional.
If you spot an error — a stale figure, a misstated rule, a broken example — please report it through our contact page. We investigate every report, correct confirmed errors promptly, and update the article's review date when we do. Material corrections are noted in the article itself.
Verd does not accept commissions from insurance carriers, and we do not publish sponsored content. Our plan recommendations are generated by our cost model from federal data, not by who pays us — no insurer can pay to be recommended, ranked higher, or reviewed favorably. Advertising, if any appears on the site, never influences our guidance or our research.
Our research library is drafted and fact-checked by the Verd Policy Team. We use software tools in the editorial process, but every published claim is verified by a person against the primary sources listed above. The AI assistant inside the Verd product is a separate feature: it helps users navigate their own plan data and is not used to generate the research articles on this site.
